Job Description
Are you ready to kickstart a career in construction? McCarthy Building Companies Inc. is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as General Labourers. No prior experience is required – we believe in investing in our people and providing comprehensive on-the-job training to help you develop valuable skills. This is an excellent opportunity for dedicated individuals who are eager to learn, contribute to significant projects, and grow within a leading construction company. You will work alongside experienced professionals, contributing to various aspects of construction projects in Independence, MO, and the surrounding areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespersons (carpenters, electricians, plumbers, etc.) with various tasks on site.
- Perform general site cleanup, including debris removal, sweeping, and organizing materials.
- Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Prepare construction sites by digging trenches, erecting scaffolding, and setting up temporary structures.
- Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision.
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations, using personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Support the team in achieving project goals and deadlines.
Required Skills
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Commitment to working safely and following all safety guidelines.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Prior experience in a manual labor role (not necessarily construction).
- Familiarity with basic hand tools.
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
