You will be responsible for the safe and timely transport of freight, adhering to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and maintaining professional conduct. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial motor vehicles (CMV) in accordance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT guidelines.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles and equipment, documenting any issues.
- Transport freight between FedEx Freight facilities and customer locations efficiently and securely.
- Load and unload freight as required, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo.
- Maintain accurate logs, records, and manifest documentation.
- Adhere to company safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, management, and customers.
- Represent FedEx Freight professionally in all interactions.
Required Skills
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all transportation regulations.
- Ability to obtain or currently possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within a specified timeframe through our sponsored program.
- Willingness to undergo and pass DOT physicals, drug screens, and background checks per company and regulatory standards for second chance hiring.
- Demonstrated strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull freight as needed (up to 70 lbs).
- Effective communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a driving or logistics-related role (not necessarily commercial driving).
- Familiarity with local and regional routes in the Overland Park area.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for minor vehicle checks.
