Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Elementary Music Educator to join our team in a high-demand district known for its supportive community and stable pay. The ideal candidate will inspire young minds through the joy of music, developing foundational musical skills, appreciation, and creativity in elementary-aged students. This role involves designing and implementing engaging music lessons, preparing students for performances, and collaborating with colleagues to integrate music into the broader curriculum. You will be part of a dedicated team committed to nurturing artistic talent and fostering a love for learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum for elementary students, aligned with state and district standards.
  • Teach general music classes, covering rhythm, melody, harmony, form, and expression.
  • Introduce students to various musical instruments, genres, and cultures.
  • Organize and direct student musical performances, concerts, and recitals.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to integrate music into interdisciplinary units.
  • Manage and maintain music equipment and instructional materials.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and school-wide initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and school events.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field.
  • Valid Florida teaching certification in Music (K-12).
  • Proficiency in playing at least one musical instrument (e.g., piano, guitar, voice).
  • Strong understanding of child development and elementary teaching methodologies.
  • Excellent classroom management skills.
  • Ability to inspire and engage young children in musical activities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Music Education.
  • Experience with Kodály, Orff-Schulwerk, or Dalcroze methodologies.
  • Experience directing elementary school choirs or instrumental ensembles.
  • Familiarity with educational technology for music instruction.
