Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented LVT Flooring Assistant to join our dynamic installation team in Kitchener. This entry-level to intermediate role is perfect for individuals looking to build a career in the flooring industry. You will work closely with experienced installers, assisting with all aspects of luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring projects, from meticulous subfloor preparation to precise material laying. This is an excellent opportunity to learn valuable trade skills and grow within a supportive company.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead installers with the preparation of subfloors, including cleaning, leveling, and applying primers or moisture barriers.
- Measure, cut, and fit LVT planks and tiles accurately according to project specifications.
- Apply adhesives and properly lay LVT flooring, ensuring precise alignment and professional finish.
- Handle and transport flooring materials and tools safely to and from job sites.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including cleanup after project completion.
- Follow all safety protocols and company guidelines on job sites.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding project progress and any issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the flooring installation process.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Basic understanding of measurements and ability to use measuring tools accurately.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn new skills and follow instructions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in flooring installation, general construction, or a related trade.
- Valid G Class Driver's License and access to reliable transportation to various job sites.
- Experience with power tools and hand tools relevant to flooring installation.
- Knowledge of different types of flooring materials and installation techniques.
