Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Cardiac Catheterization Lab Nurse to join our dedicated cardiology team. This is an exceptional opportunity for experienced nurses looking to advance their career in a state-of-the-art facility, with sponsorship available for eligible international candidates. As a Cath Lab Nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients, assisting physicians, and managing the cath lab environment. This role demands excellent clinical skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist cardiologists with diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, including angiography, angioplasty, stenting, and pacemaker insertions.
- Monitor patients' vital signs, ECG, and hemodynamic status throughout procedures.
- Administer medications, including sedatives, anticoagulants, and emergency drugs, as prescribed.
- Prepare the cath lab suite with necessary equipment, supplies, and sterile fields.
- Educate patients and their families about procedures, post-procedure care, and lifestyle modifications.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately and comprehensively.
- Manage and maintain cath lab equipment, ensuring its proper function and sterilization.
- Respond effectively to medical emergencies, demonstrating proficiency in advanced cardiac life support.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain clinical competency.
Required Skills
- Valid Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration or eligibility for registration in the UK.
- Minimum of 2 years post-registration nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a critical care, emergency, or cardiology setting.
- Demonstrable knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
- Proficiency in ECG interpretation and hemodynamic monitoring.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Commitment to patient safety and quality care.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Lab.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Post-graduate qualification in Cardiology or Critical Care Nursing.
- Experience with various cath lab equipment and technologies.
- Familiarity with UK healthcare systems and practices.
