Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Purchasing Agent to join our dynamic supply chain team in Pasco, Washington. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the efficient and accurate procurement of pharmaceutical products, ensuring optimal inventory levels, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with all relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of pharmaceutical supply chain processes, excellent negotiation skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and patient safety. This is an on-site position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the procurement process for a diverse range of pharmaceutical products, medical supplies, and related items.
  • Monitor inventory levels, forecast demand, and place orders to prevent stockouts and minimize waste.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with vendors to achieve cost savings and favorable conditions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies related to pharmaceutical purchasing and controlled substances.
  • Track purchase orders, resolve discrepancies, and expedite orders as necessary.
  • Analyze market trends, product availability, and vendor performance to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy operations, warehouse, and finance teams to optimize supply chain efficiency.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance purchasing procedures and reduce operational costs.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and generate reports as required.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Purchasing Agent, preferably in a pharmaceutical or healthcare setting (minimum 2 years).
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management principles and inventory control.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Proficiency in purchasing software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Pharmacy, or a related field.
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or other relevant professional certifications.
  • Experience with controlled substance ordering and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with Good Distribution Practices (GDP) and other pharmaceutical industry standards.
