Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Cattery Attendant to join our team for flexible casual shifts across various PetSmart locations. This role is perfect for individuals who have a genuine love for cats and are committed to providing them with a safe, clean, and stimulating environment. As a Cattery Attendant, you will be responsible for the daily care, feeding, and well-being of our feline guests, ensuring their comfort and happiness. This is an on-site position requiring physical presence at our facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily feeding and fresh water for all cats according to specific dietary needs.
- Clean and sanitize cat enclosures, litter boxes, and common areas thoroughly and regularly.
- Monitor the health and behavior of cats, reporting any concerns or changes to supervisors immediately.
- Administer medication as directed by veterinary staff or management (with proper training).
- Engage with cats through play, petting, and enrichment activities.
- Maintain accurate records of feeding, cleaning, and health observations.
- Assist with intake and departure procedures for feline guests.
- Ensure a calm and stress-free environment for all cats.
- Follow all safety and animal handling protocols.
Required Skills
- Genuine love and compassion for animals, especially cats.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with cats in a professional setting (e.g., cattery, shelter, veterinary clinic).
- Knowledge of basic cat behavior and common health issues.
- Familiarity with animal first aid and CPR.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
