Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) in accordance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, documenting any defects or issues.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods to designated locations.
  • Maintain electronic logs (ELDs) and other necessary paperwork with accuracy.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
  • Secure cargo properly to prevent damage or shifting during transit.
  • Represent Ryder System, Inc. professionally at all times.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain one through our training program.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen, as per company policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to traffic laws.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting, bending, and climbing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience operating commercial vehicles, though not required for program entry.
  • Clean driving record within the parameters of our 'Second Chance' policy.
  • Hazardous Materials (HazMat) endorsement (or willingness to obtain).
