Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) in accordance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, documenting any defects or issues.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods to designated locations.
- Maintain electronic logs (ELDs) and other necessary paperwork with accuracy.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Secure cargo properly to prevent damage or shifting during transit.
- Represent Ryder System, Inc. professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain one through our training program.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen, as per company policy and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to traffic laws.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting, bending, and climbing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience operating commercial vehicles, though not required for program entry.
- Clean driving record within the parameters of our 'Second Chance' policy.
- Hazardous Materials (HazMat) endorsement (or willingness to obtain).
