Job Description

Orkin is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Trainee Pest Control Officers. This entry-level position offers comprehensive, paid training to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to become a licensed Pest Control Officer. You will learn the science of pest management, safety protocols, and effective customer service techniques, all while working towards an essential license fully funded by Orkin. This role emphasizes independent field work, allowing you to manage your own routes and schedule once fully trained, providing a great balance of autonomy and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in all paid training sessions to learn pest identification, biology, and control methods.
  • Shadow experienced Pest Control Officers to gain practical, on-the-job experience.
  • Study and prepare for state-specific licensing exams, with all costs covered by Orkin.
  • Learn to safely and effectively apply pesticides and other pest control treatments.
  • Develop skills in inspecting properties to identify pest infestations and entry points.
  • Understand and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Practice professional communication with customers, explaining services and answering questions.
  • Maintain accurate service records and route documentation.
  • Manage a company vehicle responsibly and safely.
  • Once licensed, independently manage a designated service route, performing pest control treatments for residential and commercial clients.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Strong work ethic and a desire to learn.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, and maneuver equipment, and to crawl and climb as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Basic knowledge of common household pests.
  • Experience with route-based work or field service.
  • Mechanical aptitude or experience with small tools.
