Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate Shopify Developer to join our dynamic team. As a Shopify Developer at Valtech, you will play a crucial role in crafting bespoke e-commerce experiences for our diverse client portfolio, ranging from emerging brands to established enterprises. You will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing high-performance Shopify stores, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and user-friendly. This role requires a strong understanding of the Shopify platform, Liquid templating language, modern web technologies, and a commitment to best practices in web development. You will work closely with designers, project managers, and other developers in a collaborative, remote-first environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain custom Shopify themes and apps using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Implement third-party integrations (APIs) and custom functionalities to meet client requirements.
- Optimize Shopify stores for speed, performance, and SEO best practices.
- Ensure cross-browser compatibility and responsive design across various devices.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers to translate wireframes and mockups into functional web pages.
- Perform code reviews, identify bugs, and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest Shopify platform updates, e-commerce trends, and web technologies.
- Contribute to technical documentation and maintain clear code structure.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of professional experience with Shopify theme development.
- Expertise in Liquid templating language.
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3 (Sass/SCSS), and JavaScript (ES6+).
- Strong understanding of the Shopify platform, including its API and ecosystem.
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
- Knowledge of responsive web design principles and cross-browser compatibility.
- Ability to write clean, well-documented, and efficient code.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Shopify Plus and headless commerce solutions.
- Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue.js, Node.js).
- Experience working in a digital agency or client-facing role.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG).
- Understanding of SEO best practices and web analytics integration.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field.
