Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and safety-conscious individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Fire Watch at our Houston Refinery. This critical role is essential for maintaining a safe working environment during hot work operations, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations, and responding promptly to potential fire hazards. As an entry-level position, comprehensive training will be provided, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to start a career in industrial safety within the energy sector. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor hot work operations (welding, cutting, grinding) to prevent fires and ensure safe practices.
- Maintain a constant visual watch for sparks, flames, and other potential fire hazards.
- Be prepared to activate emergency response procedures and utilize fire suppression equipment when necessary.
- Conduct pre-hot work checks, including verifying proper permits, fire extinguisher readiness, and surrounding area conditions.
- Communicate effectively with hot work operators, supervisors, and other safety personnel.
- Document observations, incidents, and actions taken in accordance with company procedures.
- Ensure all safety equipment is in good working order and accessible.
- Participate in routine safety meetings and training sessions.
Required Skills
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to protocols.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Capable of remaining alert and focused for extended periods.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs or ladders as required in an industrial environment.

Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a safety-focused role, even outside of industrial settings.
- Basic understanding of fire safety principles.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
