Job Description
We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented WFH Script Reviewer to join our Story Development team, focusing specifically on content alignment with Netflix’s production and acquisition strategies. This is a 100% remote position. In this role, you will be instrumental in evaluating screenplays, series proposals, and other narrative content, providing comprehensive analyses and recommendations that inform our development pipeline. You will assess scripts for narrative strength, character development, market potential, and alignment with current streaming trends, particularly those relevant to Netflix’s diverse audience and genre focus.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and analyze a high volume of screenplays, teleplays, and pitch documents.
- Write concise, insightful, and constructive coverage reports, including loglines, synopses, and detailed notes on plot, character, theme, and dialogue.
- Identify compelling stories and fresh voices that align with Netflix's creative and strategic objectives.
- Provide specific feedback on areas for development, improvement, and potential roadblocks.
- Collaborate with development executives and producers to discuss project potential and provide informed recommendations.
- Stay current with industry trends, successful Netflix content, and evolving audience preferences.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines.
Required Skills
- Exceptional understanding of dramatic structure, character arcs, and storytelling principles.
- Proven ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely in written form.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Deep familiarity with current television and film landscape, especially content trends on major streaming platforms like Netflix.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive material.
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Film Studies, Creative Writing, English, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a script reader, story analyst, or development role at a production company, studio, or literary agency.
- Demonstrated ability to identify commercial viability and artistic merit in narrative content.
- Experience with various genres and formats, including drama, comedy, sci-fi, and limited series.
