Job Description
Werner Enterprises is proud to launch our Veteran Trucker Program, a fast-track hiring initiative designed specifically for experienced military veterans transitioning into or continuing their careers in commercial trucking. Key Responsibilities
- Operate commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) safely and efficiently across designated routes.
- Adhere strictly to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring vehicle is in optimal working condition.
- Manage and maintain accurate electronic logs (ELDs) and necessary paperwork.
- Ensure timely and secure delivery of freight to various customer locations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Represent Werner Enterprises professionally at all times.
- Handle freight with care, ensuring no damage during transit.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A)
- Minimum 3 years (36 months) verifiable OTR (Over-The-Road) or equivalent commercial driving experience
- Clean driving record (MVR)
- Ability to pass DOT physical and drug screen
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety protocols
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Proven reliability and commitment to safety
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various trailer types (dry van, reefer, flatbed)
- Hazardous Materials (HazMat) endorsement
- Tanker endorsement
- TWIC card
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and in-cab technology
