Job Description
Join UPS as a Metadata Analyst with a specialized focus on Machine Learning. In this remote role, you will be instrumental in managing, organizing, and optimizing metadata assets crucial for our advanced machine learning initiatives. You will work closely with data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure data quality, accessibility, and governance, directly impacting the effectiveness of our AI-driven solutions across global logistics operations. This position requires a strong understanding of data ecosystems, metadata management principles, and experience with machine learning data pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement metadata standards, policies, and procedures for ML models and datasets.
- Manage and maintain metadata repositories, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to identify and document metadata requirements for new ML projects.
- Perform data lineage tracking and impact analysis for metadata changes affecting ML pipelines.
- Ensure compliance with data governance frameworks and regulatory requirements related to metadata.
- Automate metadata extraction and ingestion processes where feasible, using scripting and ML tools.
- Provide training and support to data users on metadata tools and best practices.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of data quality and discoverability for ML applications.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of experience in data analysis, metadata management, or data governance.
- Strong understanding of machine learning concepts and data pipeline architectures.
- Proficiency with metadata management tools and data cataloging solutions (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Apache Atlas).
- Experience with SQL and Python for data manipulation and scripting.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience with NoSQL databases and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
- Knowledge of MLOps principles and practices.
- Certification in data governance or metadata management.
- Prior experience in the logistics or supply chain industry.
