Job Description

Key Responsibilities
- Complete all required training and certifications to become a certified Correctional Officer.
- Maintain constant supervision of inmates to prevent disturbances, escapes, and prohibited acts.
- Conduct regular searches of inmates, cells, and common areas for contraband.
- Enforce institutional rules, regulations, and policies with fairness and consistency.
- Respond to emergencies, including altercations, medical incidents, and natural disasters.
- Prepare detailed and accurate reports on inmate behavior, incidents, and daily activities.
- Escort inmates within and outside the facility as required.
- Perform security checks and inspections of facility perimeters, gates, and equipment.
- Interact professionally and respectfully with inmates, visitors, and other staff members.
Required Skills
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a thorough background check, psychological evaluation, and physical examination.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a structured and potentially high-stress environment.
- Physical stamina and agility to respond to emergencies and perform duties that may require physical exertion.
- Commitment to ethical conduct and professionalism.
- Willingness to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, or a related field.
- Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or military service.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish).
