Job Description
Join the vibrant team at the YMCA of Greater Kansas City as a Summer Camp Nurse! We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to oversee the health and wellness of our campers and staff during the summer season. This critical role ensures a safe and healthy camp environment, providing medical care, managing health records, and responding to emergencies. Key Responsibilities
- Provide basic first aid, medication administration, and emergency care to campers and staff.
- Manage and maintain accurate health records, including immunization records, medication logs, and daily health center visits.
- Assess and treat common camp ailments and injuries, coordinating with local medical professionals when necessary.
- Oversee the health screening process for all incoming campers and staff.
- Educate staff on health and safety protocols, including allergy awareness, sanitation, and accident prevention.
- Ensure compliance with all state and local health regulations and YMCA health policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked health center.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding camper health concerns.
- Collaborate with camp leadership to promote a safe and inclusive camp culture.
Required Skills
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification
- Ability to work independently and make sound medical decisions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively with children and diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in pediatric or school nursing
- Previous experience working in a camp or recreational setting
- Knowledge of camp health and safety standards
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for record keeping
