Job Description
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Remote Game Map Tester with a strong focus on navigation and GPS functionalities. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the accuracy and seamless experience of maps within our gaming projects, particularly those requiring precise navigation and real-world GPS integration. You will identify discrepancies, bugs, and areas for improvement, providing critical feedback to our development teams to enhance the overall quality and realism of our interactive worlds. This is a 100% remote position.
Key Responsibilities
- Rigorously test in-game maps for geographical accuracy, navigation paths, and point-of-interest validity.
- Verify the functionality and precision of GPS and navigation systems within various game environments.
- Identify, document, and report bugs, glitches, and inconsistencies related to map data and navigation features.
- Provide detailed, actionable feedback on map usability, visual fidelity, and overall navigation experience.
- Collaborate closely with game designers, developers, and QA engineers to ensure high-quality map implementation.
- Perform regression testing to confirm bug fixes and prevent new issues.
- Contribute to the development of test plans and strategies for map and navigation testing.
- Stay up-to-date with industry best practices for game testing and mapping technologies.
Required Skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and observational skills.
- Strong understanding and practical experience with GPS and various navigation systems.
- Proven ability to identify and precisely document software defects.
- Familiarity with different gaming platforms and map-heavy game genres (e.g., open-world, simulation, racing).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate findings clearly.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a remote environment.
- Basic proficiency with bug tracking software (e.g., Jira) and Google Workspace tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in game testing, QA, or a similar role.
- Knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) or mapping software.
- A strong passion for gaming and technology, particularly in areas involving exploration and navigation.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and design specifications.
