Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Improvement Nurse with a strong focus on data analysis and regulatory compliance. This role is crucial for enhancing patient outcomes, ensuring adherence to healthcare standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across our clinical services. The successful candidate will leverage data to identify trends, implement evidence-based practices, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize care delivery and maintain compliance with state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in quality improvement projects using methodologies such as PDSA, Lean, or Six Sigma.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret clinical data to identify areas for improvement and monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements from agencies such as CMS, TJC, and state health departments.
  • Develop and implement quality metrics and performance dashboards to track progress and report outcomes.
  • Provide education and training to staff on quality improvement initiatives, best practices, and compliance standards.
  • Conduct chart reviews and audits to ensure accurate documentation and adherence to care protocols.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement action plans.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on quality improvement activities and outcomes for leadership and relevant committees.
  • Stay current with best practices, regulatory changes, and advancements in quality improvement within healthcare.

Required Skills

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Dakota
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience
  • Demonstrated experience in healthcare quality improvement, patient safety, or data analysis
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in data interpretation
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation standards (e.g., CMS, TJC)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Certification in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and quality reporting software
  • Familiarity with quality improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA)
  • Experience in an academic medical center or large integrated health system
