Job Description

We are seeking a highly professional and discreet Private Club Porter to join our dedicated team. This pivotal role requires an individual with exceptional interpersonal skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and an unwavering commitment to maintaining the exclusive and sophisticated atmosphere of The Clifton Club. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for members and guests, ensuring their seamless experience while upholding the club’s high standards of security and service. Discretion and meticulous attention to detail are paramount.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome members and their guests with warmth and professionalism, managing arrivals and departures.
  • Maintain the security of the club premises, including monitoring access points and assisting with CCTV surveillance.
  • Assist members with various requests, including luggage handling, coat check, and directing them to appropriate areas.
  • Oversee the tidiness and presentation of common areas, ensuring the club's pristine appearance at all times.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries efficiently and discreetly.
  • Provide assistance to other departments, such as events and catering, as required.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to all enquiries, both in person and over the phone.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality regarding all club affairs and member information.
  • Report any maintenance or security issues promptly to the relevant management.
  • Adhere to all club policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a customer-facing role, preferably within a luxury hospitality, private club, or security environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a polite and approachable demeanor.
  • A high degree of discretion, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding environment.
  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • Basic computer literacy for logging information and managing access systems.
  • Physical fitness for light lifting and standing for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Porter or Concierge in a high-end establishment.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Knowledge of local area attractions and services in Bristol.
  • A clean UK driving license.
