Job Description
Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse to join our dedicated team. This is an immediate opening for a full-time position where you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive post-operative care to patients recovering from anesthesia. As a PACU Nurse at TMH, you will utilize your expert clinical skills to monitor, assess, and stabilize patients during their immediate recovery period, ensuring their safety and comfort. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor vital signs, respiratory status, and neurological status of post-operative patients.
- Assess patient pain levels and administer appropriate pain management interventions.
- Manage airways, artificial ventilation, and oxygen therapy.
- Identify and respond to potential post-anesthesia complications, such as hemorrhage, respiratory depression, or cardiac arrhythmias.
- Administer medications accurately and safely per physician orders.
- Provide wound care and monitor surgical sites for complications.
- Educate patients and families on post-operative care instructions.
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records and documentation.
- Ensure a safe and clean patient environment.
Required Skills
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in PACU, Critical Care, or Emergency Room settings.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN) or Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse (CAPA) certification.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, particularly Epic.
