Job Description

Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse to join our dedicated team. This is an immediate opening for a full-time position where you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive post-operative care to patients recovering from anesthesia. As a PACU Nurse at TMH, you will utilize your expert clinical skills to monitor, assess, and stabilize patients during their immediate recovery period, ensuring their safety and comfort. Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor vital signs, respiratory status, and neurological status of post-operative patients.
  • Assess patient pain levels and administer appropriate pain management interventions.
  • Manage airways, artificial ventilation, and oxygen therapy.
  • Identify and respond to potential post-anesthesia complications, such as hemorrhage, respiratory depression, or cardiac arrhythmias.
  • Administer medications accurately and safely per physician orders.
  • Provide wound care and monitor surgical sites for complications.
  • Educate patients and families on post-operative care instructions.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records and documentation.
  • Ensure a safe and clean patient environment.

Required Skills

  • Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in PACU, Critical Care, or Emergency Room settings.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN) or Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse (CAPA) certification.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, particularly Epic.
