Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Infrastructure Engineer with a strong focus on cloud migration to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in architecting, planning, and executing the migration of Pinterest’s critical infrastructure and services to cloud platforms. You will work on designing scalable, reliable, and cost-effective cloud solutions, collaborating closely with various engineering teams to ensure a seamless transition and optimal performance in a hybrid or multi-cloud environment. This role requires deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud technologies, automation, and a passion for building robust, high-performance infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and implement cloud migration strategies and roadmaps for various Pinterest services and applications.
  • Develop and maintain automation tools and frameworks for cloud infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to assess current infrastructure, identify migration candidates, and define migration plans.
  • Ensure security, compliance, and cost-efficiency of cloud-based solutions.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud infrastructure performance and reliability.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to support critical infrastructure incidents.
  • Evangelize best practices for cloud native development, operations, and security.
  • Evaluate new cloud technologies and provide recommendations for adoption to enhance our infrastructure capabilities.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience with major public cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking, security, and identity management principles.
  • Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
  • Expertise in scripting and programming languages like Python, Go, or Java.
  • Solid background in Linux administration, distributed systems, and microservices architectures.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues in production environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect).
  • Experience with large-scale data migration projects.
  • Familiarity with database technologies (SQL and NoSQL) and data warehousing solutions in the cloud.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Datadog).
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, agile development environment.
