Job Description

Wincanton plc in Bridgwater is offering an incredible opportunity to become a fully qualified Forklift Driver. We are searching for motivated and reliable individuals to join our dynamic warehouse team. No prior experience is required, as we will invest in your future by providing comprehensive training and covering the full cost of your forklift license. This is a fantastic entry-level role for those eager to learn, work hard, and build a rewarding career in logistics. You will be responsible for safely moving, stacking, and loading goods within our state-of-the-art facility, playing a crucial role in our daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in all provided forklift training sessions to obtain relevant certifications (e.g., Counterbalance, Reach Truck).
  • Safely operate forklift trucks and other warehouse equipment (once qualified) to load, unload, stack, and move materials.
  • Perform daily pre-shift checks on equipment and report any defects immediately.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Assist with general warehouse duties, including picking, packing, and maintaining a clean and organised work environment.
  • Accurately complete paperwork and use handheld scanners for inventory management.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure efficient workflow and meet operational targets.

Required Skills

  • A strong willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Reliable and punctual with a good work ethic.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work safely in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills to understand work orders and maintain records.
  • A positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Physical fitness to perform duties that may involve standing, walking, and occasional heavy lifting (as per safety guidelines).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Full UK driving license (Category B) is advantageous but not essential.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse or industrial setting is a plus, but not required.
  • An understanding of health and safety principles.
