Job Description
Join our dedicated horticultural team at The Eden Project for the seasonal pear harvest. We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Pear Pickers to assist with traditional orchard work. This vital role involves carefully harvesting pears to ensure optimal quality and yield, contributing directly to our sustainable food initiatives. You’ll be working outdoors in a beautiful environment, as part of a supportive team, making a tangible contribution to our mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Carefully pick pears by hand from trees, following quality guidelines to prevent bruising or damage.
- Sort and pack picked fruit into designated containers.
- Operate basic orchard equipment safely (e.g., ladders, picking bags).
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations on site.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work area in the orchard.
- Work efficiently and productively to meet daily picking targets.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and attention to detail for delicate fruit handling.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Reliability and strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in fruit picking or agricultural work is an advantage.
- Understanding of basic food safety and hygiene principles.
