Job Description

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking dedicated and reliable Hospital Porters to join our team, with an immediate start available. This is an entry-level position where no previous experience is required – we will provide all necessary training. As a Hospital Porter, you will play a crucial role in the smooth running of our hospitals, ensuring patients, equipment, and vital supplies are moved safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients, often on beds, wheelchairs, or trolleys, between wards, departments, and other areas.
- Move medical equipment, specimens, patient records, and other essential items throughout the hospital.
- Deliver post, parcels, and clinical waste to designated areas.
- Assist with the movement of deceased patients to the mortuary, maintaining dignity and respect.
- Maintain a clean and tidy working environment, including cleaning and storing equipment.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, visitors, and staff members.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations, infection control policies, and patient confidentiality.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to requests for portering services.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
