Job Description
Target Corporation is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Part-time Retail Security Officer to join our team for weekend static posts at our Minneapolis location. This role is crucial in maintaining a safe and secure shopping environment for our guests and a secure workplace for our team members. The ideal candidate will be observant, possess excellent communication skills, and be committed to upholding Target’s stringent safety and security standards. This is a stable, on-site position focused on loss prevention and maintaining order within a designated retail store location, ensuring the well-being of everyone on premises during operating hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor assigned areas of the retail store to prevent theft, vandalism, and other security incidents.
- Conduct regular patrols and surveillance of the premises, both internal and external, to identify potential risks.
- Respond promptly and professionally to alarms, emergencies, and security breaches, following established protocols.
- Observe and report suspicious activities or individuals to store management and loss prevention teams.
- Enforce store policies and procedures related to security and safety, ensuring compliance from all individuals.
- Assist in de-escalating conflicts or disturbances as needed, maintaining a calm and authoritative presence.
- Complete detailed incident reports and maintain accurate security logs for all occurrences.
- Provide a visible security presence to deter potential criminal activity and promote a sense of safety.
- Collaborate effectively with store leadership and local law enforcement when necessary to resolve security issues.
Required Skills
- Strong observational and problem-solving skills to quickly assess situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities for reporting and interaction.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure during emergency situations.
- High level of integrity and professionalism in all interactions and duties.
- Basic understanding of security procedures and protocols.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts.
- Must be available to work weekend shifts (Saturdays and Sundays).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail security, loss prevention, or a similar security role.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with security camera systems and monitoring equipment.
