Job Description
Swift Transportation is seeking highly motivated and experienced Owner Operators to partner with us. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate a commercial motor vehicle (tractor-trailer) in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.
- Manage time effectively to ensure on-time delivery of freight.
- Maintain accurate logbooks and submit all required documentation promptly.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the tractor and trailer.
- Ensure proper securement of cargo to prevent damage during transit.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and maintain a clean driving record.
- Handle minor repairs and maintenance as necessary, or coordinate with maintenance support.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other company personnel.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A).
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable Class A driving experience.
- Must own or lease a reliable tractor that meets DOT regulations and company specifications.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and PSP report.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Basic understanding of trucking business operations and expenses.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with refrigerated, flatbed, or hazmat endorsements.
- Prior experience as an owner-operator or independent contractor.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- A proactive approach to truck maintenance and preventative care.
