Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Order Picker Forklift Driver to join our team in New Port Richey, FL. This is a combined skilled role where you will be responsible for operating various types of forklifts (including order pickers) to efficiently move, stack, and retrieve products within our warehouse. You will also perform essential order picking tasks, ensuring accuracy and timely preparation of shipments. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate an order picker forklift and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently to pick, stage, and load products.
- Accurately select products from warehouse locations based on picking lists or scanner directions.
- Verify product quantities and ensure items picked match order specifications.
- Transport products to designated areas, including staging lanes, shipping docks, or storage locations.
- Perform routine pre-operational checks on equipment and report any maintenance issues.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks, ensuring proper securing of freight.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as OSHA regulations.
- Participate in inventory counts and help resolve discrepancies as needed.
- Cross-train in other warehouse functions as required to support team operations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience operating an order picker forklift and other material handling equipment (e.g., stand-up, reach truck).
- Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain one.
- Proficiency in basic mathematics and strong attention to detail for accurate order picking.
- Ability to read and interpret picking lists, manifests, and shipping documents.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety protocols and best practices.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) such as SAP, Oracle, or similar.
- Previous experience in a high-volume distribution or logistics center.
- Familiarity with inventory control procedures.
