Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Oil Field Driver to join our Sarnia operations. This critical role involves the safe and efficient transportation of various materials, including crude oil, refined products, and other hazardous and non-hazardous substances, to and from oil field sites, refineries, and other designated locations. The successful candidate will operate specialized vehicles, adhere to strict safety protocols, and contribute to the smooth flow of our operations. This position offers high hazard pay and operates on a structured rotation schedule, ensuring work-life balance while managing the demands of the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate heavy-duty commercial vehicles, including tank trucks, flatbeds, and other specialized equipment.
  • Transport crude oil, refined products, chemicals, and other materials in compliance with all company, provincial, and federal regulations.
  • Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles, equipment, and cargo.
  • Secure loads properly to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork, including logbooks, manifests, bills of lading, and expense reports accurately and on time.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and other team members regarding schedules, routes, and any operational issues.
  • Respond to emergencies or incidents in accordance with established company protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of assigned vehicle and equipment.
  • Participate in regular safety meetings and training programs.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class 1 (or equivalent AZ) driver's license with air brake endorsement.
  • Minimum 3 years of verifiable commercial driving experience, preferably in the oil and gas sector.
  • Clean commercial driver abstract.
  • Certification in Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  • Proficiency in reading maps and using GPS devices.
  • Strong understanding of federal and provincial transportation regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to all operational procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating specialized oilfield equipment (e.g., vacuum trucks, pressure trucks).
  • Additional safety certifications (e.g., H2S Alive, WHMIS).
  • Mechanical aptitude for minor vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
  • Post-secondary education in a related field.
