Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as NHS Hospital Porters at our Stratford location. This Band 2 role offers full training, making it an excellent opportunity for those looking to start a rewarding career in healthcare without prior experience. As a vital part of our hospital operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of patients, equipment, and supplies, contributing directly to patient comfort and the overall functioning of the hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Transporting patients by wheelchair, trolley, or bed safely and respectfully to various departments within the hospital.
- Moving medical equipment, clinical waste, specimens, and pharmacy supplies.
- Delivering clean linen and collecting soiled linen throughout the hospital.
- Responding promptly to urgent requests and emergency calls.
- Maintaining cleanliness and tidiness of equipment and work areas.
- Assisting with the set-up of rooms and areas for patient procedures or events.
- Adhering to all health and safety guidelines and hospital policies.
- Communicating effectively and courteously with patients, visitors, and staff.
Required Skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English.
- Physical fitness to perform duties including pushing, pulling, lifting, and walking for extended periods.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work various shifts, including weekends and nights.
- A compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and dignity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service or care-giving role.
- Basic IT literacy for using communication devices or internal systems.
