Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Neurologic Music Therapist to join our specialized clinical team. This role involves providing evidence-based music therapy interventions to pediatric patients with neurological conditions, developmental delays, and other complex medical needs. The successful candidate will design and implement individualized treatment plans to address cognitive, motor, speech/language, and socio-emotional goals within an acute care and rehabilitation setting, contributing significantly to our patients’ recovery and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive neurologic music therapy assessments to identify patient needs and establish measurable goals.
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based music therapy treatment plans for pediatric patients.
- Utilize specific Neurologic Music Therapy techniques such as Rhythmic Auditory Stimulation, Melodic Intonation Therapy, and Therapeutic Instrumental Music Performance.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in electronic health records.
- Educate patients, families, and staff regarding the benefits and principles of Neurologic Music Therapy.
- Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and professional ethical guidelines.
Required Skills
- Board Certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC).
- Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) Fellowship training/certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a music therapist, preferably in a pediatric or medical setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of Neurologic Music Therapy techniques.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, complex healthcare environment.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems and standard office software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Music Therapy or a related field.
- Experience with specific pediatric populations, including NICU, oncology, neuro-rehabilitation, or developmental disorders.
- Additional certifications or advanced training in related therapeutic modalities.
- Bilingual proficiency is a plus.
