Job Description

We are seeking a meticulous and dedicated Museum Gallery Auditor to join our team, focusing on ensuring the integrity and compliance of cultural institutions within Pasco County. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a deep respect for cultural artifacts, and the ability to work independently in a quiet, focused environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough audits of museum galleries, collections management practices, and operational procedures to uphold the highest standards of cultural preservation and accountability. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive on-site audits of museum gallery displays, storage facilities, and collections.
  • Verify inventory against records, identifying discrepancies and reporting findings accurately.
  • Assess compliance with established curatorial standards, conservation protocols, and security measures.
  • Evaluate environmental conditions within galleries and storage areas (temperature, humidity, light exposure).
  • Review operational procedures for artifact handling, movement, and exhibition preparation.
  • Document audit findings, observations, and recommendations in detailed reports.
  • Collaborate with museum staff to address areas of non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
  • Stay informed on best practices in museum management, conservation, and auditing.
  • Provide constructive feedback and support to cultural institutions to improve their practices.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all audit activities and findings.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Museum Studies, Art History, Archaeology, Archival Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in museum operations, collections management, or auditing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of museum ethics and professional standards.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in record-keeping and data verification.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with cultural resource management software or collections databases.
