Job Description
XPO Logistics is seeking a dedicated and reliable Military Base Civilian Driver to support a secure federal contract in Duluth, Minnesota. This is a critical full-time position responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of personnel, equipment, and sensitive materials within and around military installations. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of base activities, adhering strictly to all security protocols, federal regulations, and company policies. This on-site role requires a high degree of professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and security.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate various vehicles, including sedans, vans, and light trucks, on and off military installations.
- Transport personnel, equipment, and materials according to established schedules and routes.
- Adhere to all military base regulations, traffic laws, and safety procedures at all times.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate trip logs, vehicle records, and other required documentation.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials as needed, ensuring proper securing of cargo.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion regarding sensitive information and operations.
- Communicate effectively with base personnel, dispatchers, and team members.
- Respond to unforeseen circumstances or emergencies calmly and professionally.
Required Skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (e.g., Common Access Card – CAC).
- Demonstrated knowledge of safe driving practices and vehicle operation.
- Excellent navigational skills and familiarity with local road networks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of reliability, punctuality, and professionalism.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience operating vehicles on military installations.
- Experience with federal contract work or government logistics.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) transportation regulations.
