Job Description

As an Entry-Level Lab Support Specialist at Thermo Fisher Scientific in San Jose, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our laboratory facilities. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and organize laboratory inventory, including reagents, consumables, and samples.
  • Prepare and sterilize glassware and equipment for daily lab operations.
  • Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
  • Assist in waste management and ensure proper disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
  • Perform routine laboratory cleaning and maintain a tidy and organized workspace.
  • Support scientific staff with basic experimental setup and sample preparation as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of supplies, equipment maintenance, and other lab activities.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and quality control standards.
  • Receive and process incoming shipments of lab supplies and reagents.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions meticulously.
  • Basic computer proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Science).
  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting (academic, volunteer, or intern).
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety procedures.
