Job Description
As an Entry-Level Lab Support Specialist at Thermo Fisher Scientific in San Jose, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our laboratory facilities. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and organize laboratory inventory, including reagents, consumables, and samples.
- Prepare and sterilize glassware and equipment for daily lab operations.
- Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
- Assist in waste management and ensure proper disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
- Perform routine laboratory cleaning and maintain a tidy and organized workspace.
- Support scientific staff with basic experimental setup and sample preparation as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of supplies, equipment maintenance, and other lab activities.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and quality control standards.
- Receive and process incoming shipments of lab supplies and reagents.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions meticulously.
- Basic computer proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Science).
- Previous experience in a laboratory setting (academic, volunteer, or intern).
- Familiarity with laboratory safety procedures.
