Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated K-12 Music Teacher to join the Scottsdale Unified School District. This pivotal role involves designing and delivering engaging music instruction across various grade levels, fostering a love for music, and developing students’ musical talents and understanding. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a dynamic classroom environment where students can explore different musical genres, instruments, and vocal techniques. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive K-12 music curriculum aligned with state and national standards.
  • Teach general music, vocal, and instrumental techniques to diverse student populations across elementary, middle, and high school levels.
  • Plan and direct school-wide musical performances, concerts, and extracurricular music activities.
  • Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and differentiate instruction to meet individual learning needs.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, administration, and parents to support student success and school initiatives.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and disciplined learning environment that encourages creativity and participation.
  • Select, store, and maintain musical instruments, equipment, and teaching materials.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Music Education or a closely related field.
  • Valid Arizona K-12 Music Education Teaching Certificate (or eligibility to obtain one).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in multiple musical instruments and vocal techniques.
  • Strong classroom management skills and ability to engage students of all ages.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented educational setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Music Education or a related discipline.
  • Prior teaching experience in a K-12 setting.
  • Experience directing school bands, orchestras, or choirs.
  • Familiarity with diverse music education methodologies (e.g., Orff, Kodaly, Dalcroze).
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.
