Job Description
Join FedEx Custom Critical as a High-Value Electronics Hauler, focusing on team driving to ensure the secure and timely transport of critical electronic components. This demanding yet rewarding role requires exceptional attention to detail, unwavering commitment to safety, and a professional demeanor. You and your driving partner will be responsible for operating specialized vehicles, primarily straight trucks or tractor-trailers, to move sensitive and high-value cargo across the country. Success in this position hinges on your ability to work cohesively as a team, maintain rigorous security protocols, and adhere to strict delivery schedules, all while upholding FedEx Custom Critical’s reputation for superior service.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently in a team driving environment, adhering to all DOT regulations and company policies.
- Transport high-value and time-sensitive electronic equipment with utmost care and security.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring vehicles are in optimal working condition.
- Maintain accurate logs and records, including electronic logging devices (ELDs), service records, and delivery confirmations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members regarding shipment status, potential delays, and any issues encountered.
- Load and unload cargo as needed, utilizing appropriate handling techniques to prevent damage.
- Adhere to all security protocols, including cargo security, vehicle security, and personal safety procedures.
- Represent FedEx Custom Critical with professionalism and a commitment to exceptional service at all times.
- Collaborate closely with your driving partner to maximize efficiency and ensure continuous operation when legally permissible.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience, preferably in team driving.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug screen, and background check.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations, safety protocols, and cargo securement techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, essential for team driving.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail, especially when handling high-value cargo.
- Flexibility to travel extensively and adapt to varying schedules and routes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Hazmat endorsement (H endorsement).
- Previous experience transporting high-value or sensitive freight.
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and transportation management systems.
- Advanced defensive driving and safety training certifications.
- Experience operating various types of commercial vehicles, including straight trucks and tractor-trailers.
