Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and proactive High School Maintenance Aide with a strong focus on school facility upkeep. This full-time, on-site position is integral to maintaining the operational integrity and aesthetic appeal of our high school campuses in Irvine. You will perform a variety of essential duties, from routine cleaning and custodial tasks to minor repairs and grounds maintenance, ensuring a conducive learning and working environment for everyone in our school community.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, cleaning restrooms, and emptying trash receptacles.
- Conduct minor repairs and maintenance on school property, such as changing light bulbs, fixing small leaks, and adjusting classroom furniture.
- Assist with grounds maintenance, including litter pickup and basic landscaping tasks to ensure presentable outdoor areas.
- Ensure all school facilities comply with safety and health regulations, promptly reporting any hazards or larger repair needs to supervisors.
- Support school events and activities by assisting with setup and teardown of equipment, tables, and chairs.
- Operate and maintain basic cleaning and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
- Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance requests from staff and faculty.
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques and minor repair work.
- Ability to safely use hand tools and common cleaning equipment (e.g., floor buffers, vacuums).
- Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact respectfully with students, staff, and visitors.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience in a maintenance, janitorial, or facility support role, preferably in a school or institutional setting.
- Possession of a valid California Driver's License and a clean driving record.
- Familiarity with school safety protocols and procedures, including Cal/OSHA guidelines.
