Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and passionate Hardware Store Field Auditor with a strong focus on DIY knowledge to join our team in Fort Worth, TX. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive audits of our retail locations, ensuring compliance with operational standards, merchandising guidelines, inventory accuracy, and customer service protocols. Your unique expertise in DIY projects and products will be vital in evaluating how well stores cater to the needs of home improvement enthusiasts and professionals alike. You will identify areas for improvement, provide actionable feedback, and contribute to maintaining The Home Depot’s high standards of quality and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough on-site audits of assigned Home Depot stores, assessing operational efficiency and adherence to company policies.
  • Evaluate merchandising displays, product placement, and stock levels, with a keen eye on DIY project-specific sections (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry).
  • Verify inventory accuracy, loss prevention measures, and proper handling of damaged goods.
  • Assess customer service interactions, ensuring associates are providing accurate and helpful DIY advice and product recommendations.
  • Identify compliance gaps in safety procedures, signage, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare detailed audit reports with findings, recommendations, and evidence (photos, documentation).
  • Collaborate with store management to implement corrective actions and follow up on resolution progress.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new DIY products, and best practices in retail operations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in retail operations, merchandising, or quality assurance.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and passion for DIY projects, tools, materials, and home improvement processes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report generation and interaction with store teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to travel extensively within a defined regional area.
  • Strong ethical conduct and integrity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field.
  • Previous experience as a field auditor or in a similar compliance-focused role.
  • Certifications in specific trade skills (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry).
  • Experience with auditing software or data analysis tools.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish).
