Job Description

We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced Economic Policy Analyst with a strong focus on finance and Wall Street dynamics. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for researching, analyzing, and interpreting economic data, policy changes, and market trends that impact financial markets and our clients. Your insights will directly inform strategic decision-making, investment strategies, and client advice within our wealth management and capital markets divisions. This position requires a deep understanding of macroeconomic principles, monetary and fiscal policy, and their practical implications for financial services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis of global, national, and regional economic trends, policy developments, and regulatory changes.
  • Evaluate the potential impact of monetary policy decisions (e.g., central bank actions) and fiscal policy (e.g., government spending, taxation) on financial markets, asset classes, and specific industries.
  • Develop economic forecasts and models to predict market behavior and provide actionable insights for investment teams and financial advisors.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and compelling reports, presentations, and commentaries on economic and policy matters for internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Monitor key economic indicators, geopolitical events, and legislative initiatives relevant to the financial services industry.
  • Collaborate with research teams, portfolio managers, and strategists to integrate economic analysis into investment processes and thought leadership.
  • Stay abreast of academic research, industry publications, and policy discussions to ensure our analysis is cutting-edge.

Required Skills

  • Proven expertise in macroeconomic analysis, financial market dynamics, and policy evaluation.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, including statistical modeling and data interpretation.
  • Proficiency in economic and financial data platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv Eikon, CEIC, FRED).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex economic concepts into clear, actionable insights.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in policy research and analysis, particularly relating to financial regulations or market structures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Economics, Finance, Public Policy, or a related quantitative field.
  • CFA designation or progress towards it.
  • Experience with advanced econometric software (e.g., R, Python, Stata, EViews).
  • Prior experience working within a financial institution, think tank, government agency, or consulting firm with a focus on financial markets.
  • Familiarity with various asset classes and investment strategies.
