Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Economic Policy Analyst to join our dynamic team in Detroit. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong interest in the intersection of economic policy, financial markets, and Wall Street operations. The successful candidate will conduct in-depth research, analyze policy implications, and provide strategic insights to clients navigating complex regulatory and economic landscapes. You will contribute to projects focused on financial sector analysis, regulatory compliance, macroeconomic forecasting, and the impact of policy changes on various industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on economic trends, financial market developments, and policy initiatives affecting the financial services sector.
  • Evaluate the impact of proposed and enacted legislation and regulations (e.g., Dodd-Frank, Basel III) on financial institutions and capital markets.
  • Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and policy briefs for internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Develop economic models and use quantitative methods to forecast market behavior and policy outcomes.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across consulting, risk advisory, and financial advisory practices.
  • Monitor global economic indicators, central bank policies, and geopolitical events relevant to finance and Wall Street.
  • Present findings and recommendations to clients, clearly articulating complex economic concepts and their strategic implications.
  • Contribute to thought leadership and business development initiatives related to economic policy and financial sector issues.

Required Skills

  • Master's degree in Economics, Public Policy, Finance, or a related quantitative field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in economic policy analysis, financial analysis, or a similar role within a financial institution, think tank, government agency, or consulting firm.
  • Strong understanding of macroeconomic principles, financial markets, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., SEC, Federal Reserve).
  • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, Python, Stata) and data visualization tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Proven ability to conduct rigorous research, analyze data, and synthesize findings into actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Economics, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience with financial modeling and econometric techniques.
  • Familiarity with Wall Street operations and investment banking processes.
  • Prior experience in client-facing roles or consulting.
  • Knowledge of specific regulatory areas such as FinTech, ESG in finance, or digital assets.
