Job Description

As a Disability Support Assistant, you will provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes and communities, helping them achieve their personal goals and live independently. Key Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks.
- Support individuals in participating in community activities, appointments, and recreational outings.
- Implement individualized support plans and behavioral strategies as directed.
- Provide medication reminders and assist with medication administration as trained and authorized.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided and individual progress.
- Foster a safe, clean, and engaging environment for individuals.
- Promote independence and personal choice while ensuring the health and safety of individuals.
- Communicate effectively with individuals, their families, and the care team.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (preferred, but not always required with relevant life experience).
- Strong desire to help others and make a positive impact.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to individual needs.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (required for some roles).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a caregiving or support role (personal or professional).
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Knowledge of person-centered planning principles.
