Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Crisis Hotline Assistant to join our fully remote team. In this vital role, you will provide immediate, confidential, and compassionate text-based support to individuals experiencing mental health crises, emotional distress, or suicidal ideation. You will be a lifeline for those in need, offering active listening, de-escalation techniques, and connecting individuals with appropriate resources. This position is 100% remote, allowing you to make a significant impact from the comfort of your home.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly and empathetically to incoming crisis texts, maintaining a non-judgmental and supportive tone.
- Utilize active listening and empathetic communication skills to understand the needs of texters.
- Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, and emotional support to individuals experiencing distress.
- Assess risk factors and develop safety plans in collaboration with texters.
- Refer texters to appropriate local and national mental health resources and services.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions in compliance with privacy regulations.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members for support and case consultation.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in crisis intervention, counseling, or a related support role.
- Knowledge of mental health resources and services in Canada.
- Relevant certifications in crisis intervention or mental health first aid.
- Fluency in French or another additional language is an asset.
