Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Compounding Pharmacy Technician to join our specialty lab team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for preparing customized pharmaceutical compounds, ensuring accuracy, sterility, and compliance with all regulatory standards. This position involves working with a variety of specialized equipment and techniques to create medications tailored to individual patient prescriptions. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare a wide range of sterile and non-sterile compounded medications accurately and efficiently under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Perform calculations necessary for compounding, including unit conversions and dosage adjustments.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant compounding laboratory environment, adhering to USP <795>, USP <797>, and USP <800> standards.
  • Operate and maintain specialized compounding equipment, including balances, ointment mills, and capsule machines.
  • Conduct quality control checks on raw materials and finished products.
  • Manage inventory of compounding ingredients and supplies, including ordering and proper storage.
  • Accurately document all compounding activities, formulations, and quality checks.
  • Assist pharmacists with medication dispensing and patient consultations as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with compounding best practices and regulations.

Required Skills

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, with at least 1 year in compounding.
  • Proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations and measurements.
  • Strong understanding of compounding regulations (USP <795>, <797>, <800>).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a related scientific field.
  • Experience with sterile compounding.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy management software specific to compounding.
  • Completion of advanced compounding training programs.
