Job Description

BrightStar Care is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Companion Care Specialist to join our boutique agency in Tampa, FL. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about providing non-medical support and companionship to seniors and individuals needing assistance, enabling them to maintain independence and enhance their quality of life. As a Companion Care Specialist, you will travel to client homes, building meaningful relationships and providing personalized care tailored to their unique needs. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, engaging in stimulating activities such as conversations, reading, games, and outings.
  • Assist clients with light household tasks, including meal preparation, tidying up, and laundry.
  • Accompany clients to appointments, social events, shopping, and other activities, providing safe transportation and support.
  • Remind clients to take medications and stay hydrated (no administering).
  • Assist with personal care activities as needed, such as dressing and grooming (non-medical).
  • Monitor and report any changes in client's health, behavior, or living situation to the supervisory staff.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for clients.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in companion care, elder care, or a similar field.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation with current auto insurance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screen.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and compassion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CNA certification or completion of a home health aide training program.
  • Experience working with clients with cognitive impairments (e.g., dementia).
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
