Job Description
Join our dynamic team at Kaiser Permanente as a Clinical Pharmacy Assistant. In this vital role, you will work closely with our professional pharmacists, contributing to the efficient operation of our pharmacy services and directly impacting patient care. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of clinical excellence. You will support pharmacists in medication preparation, inventory management, patient communication, and administrative tasks, ensuring a seamless workflow and optimal patient outcomes. This is an on-site position within our Valencia facility, offering a chance to be part of a collaborative and supportive healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists with the preparation and dispensing of medications, including compounding and labeling.
- Maintain accurate patient records and medication profiles.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, stocking, and rotating supplies.
- Process prescription orders, verify insurance information, and handle billing inquiries.
- Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and other pharmacy staff regarding medication inquiries and services.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local pharmacy laws and regulations.
- Perform administrative duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and managing correspondence.
- Support pharmacists in patient education regarding medication use and potential side effects.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program or equivalent experience.
- Current California Pharmacy Technician License or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and pharmaceutical calculations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Basic computer skills and experience with pharmacy management software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher in a related field.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification.
- Previous experience in a clinical or hospital pharmacy setting.
- Familiarity with Kaiser Permanente's systems and protocols.
- Experience with sterile compounding techniques.
