Job Description
As a Carbon Capture & Sequestration Intern at Shell, you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects aimed at reducing CO2 emissions. This internship offers hands-on experience in the rapidly evolving field of CCUS, working alongside experienced engineers and scientists. You will assist in research, data analysis, and technical evaluations related to carbon capture technologies, transport, and geological storage solutions. This role is designed for ambitious individuals eager to learn and make a tangible impact on Shell’s sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in research and literature reviews on advanced carbon capture technologies and geological storage sites.
- Support data collection and analysis related to CCUS project feasibility and performance.
- Contribute to the development of technical reports, presentations, and internal documentation.
- Participate in team meetings and workshops, actively contributing ideas and insights.
- Learn and apply industry best practices for safety and environmental stewardship in CCUS projects.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate potential sequestration sites and capture methods.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Earth Sciences, Petroleum Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong academic record.
- Demonstrated interest in sustainability, climate change, and low-carbon technologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, or geological principles.
- Previous exposure to research projects or coursework related to energy systems or environmental science.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools or programming languages (e.g., Python, R) is a plus.
