Job Description

Peabody Preparatory is seeking a passionate and skilled Brass Teacher with a primary focus on Trumpet and Trombone for our weekend programs. This part-time position offers an exciting opportunity to inspire and educate students of various skill levels, from beginners to advanced, in a vibrant and supportive educational setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong performance background, excellent pedagogical skills, and a commitment to nurturing musical growth. This role involves teaching individual lessons and potentially small group classes on Saturdays and/or Sundays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality individual instruction in trumpet and trombone to students of varying ages and skill levels.
  • Develop engaging and effective lesson plans tailored to student needs and learning styles.
  • Teach fundamental brass techniques, music theory, ear training, and performance practices.
  • Prepare students for recitals, auditions, and other performance opportunities.
  • Communicate regularly with students and parents regarding progress and goals.
  • Maintain a professional and positive learning environment.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and professional development as required.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in trumpet and trombone performance and pedagogy.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching brass instruments to students of diverse ages and abilities.
  • Strong understanding of music theory, harmony, and instrumental technique.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Bachelor's degree in Music Performance, Music Education, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Music Performance, Music Education, or a related field.
  • Previous experience teaching in a community music school or conservatory preparatory program.
  • Familiarity with various brass teaching methodologies.
  • Experience preparing students for advanced auditions or competitions.
