Job Description
Peabody Preparatory is seeking a passionate and skilled Brass Teacher with a primary focus on Trumpet and Trombone for our weekend programs. This part-time position offers an exciting opportunity to inspire and educate students of various skill levels, from beginners to advanced, in a vibrant and supportive educational setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong performance background, excellent pedagogical skills, and a commitment to nurturing musical growth. This role involves teaching individual lessons and potentially small group classes on Saturdays and/or Sundays.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality individual instruction in trumpet and trombone to students of varying ages and skill levels.
- Develop engaging and effective lesson plans tailored to student needs and learning styles.
- Teach fundamental brass techniques, music theory, ear training, and performance practices.
- Prepare students for recitals, auditions, and other performance opportunities.
- Communicate regularly with students and parents regarding progress and goals.
- Maintain a professional and positive learning environment.
- Participate in faculty meetings and professional development as required.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in trumpet and trombone performance and pedagogy.
- Demonstrated experience teaching brass instruments to students of diverse ages and abilities.
- Strong understanding of music theory, harmony, and instrumental technique.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Bachelor's degree in Music Performance, Music Education, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Music Performance, Music Education, or a related field.
- Previous experience teaching in a community music school or conservatory preparatory program.
- Familiarity with various brass teaching methodologies.
- Experience preparing students for advanced auditions or competitions.
