Job Description
Are you a motivated 14-year-old looking for your first job experience? Safeway in Oakland, CA is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Teens Grocery Baggers to join our team for immediate hire. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals eager to learn about the retail environment, develop customer service skills, and contribute to a bustling local supermarket. As a Grocery Bagger, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our customers have a pleasant and efficient shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently bag groceries at checkstands, ensuring items are handled with care and packed appropriately.
- Assist customers with carrying groceries to their vehicles, providing friendly and helpful service.
- Gather shopping carts from the parking lot and other areas, returning them to designated corrals.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of checkout lanes, bagging areas, and parking lot.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers, answering basic questions, and offering assistance with a positive attitude.
- Support store operations by helping with light stocking or general tidying as needed.
- Adhere to all store policies and safety procedures.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and carry groceries, up to 25 pounds, repeatedly.
- Capability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions.
- Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn.
- Reliable and punctual with a positive, can-do attitude.
- Basic communication skills and a friendly demeanor.
- Must be at least 14 years old and eligible to work according to local child labor laws.
