Job Description
Pawsitive Pet Care Rapid City is excited to offer a unique opportunity for responsible and enthusiastic 13-year-old teens in our community! Are you a reliable 13-year-old who loves animals and is looking for your first job experience? Pawsitive Pet Care Rapid City is seeking dedicated young individuals to join our team as Dog Walkers. This role is perfect for teens eager to earn their own money, enjoy the outdoors, and make a positive impact on the lives of local pets. We believe in fostering responsibility and providing a safe, supportive environment for our young team members. All dog walking assignments will be carefully vetted and, where appropriate, supervised or carried out with clear guidelines and parental consent. This is a fantastic chance to develop strong work ethics, communication skills, and a deeper understanding of animal care.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely walk dogs according to client instructions and established routes.
- Ensure the well-being and safety of the dogs at all times.
- Clean up after dogs during walks and dispose of waste properly.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with clients and Pawsitive Pet Care staff (often via a parent/guardian).
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols established by Pawsitive Pet Care.
- Report any concerns, incidents, or unusual pet behavior promptly to a supervisor or parent.
Required Skills
- A genuine love for animals, especially dogs.
- Responsibility and reliability.
- Punctuality and ability to manage time effectively.
- Good communication skills (with adult supervision and guidance).
- Ability to follow instructions carefully and adhere to rules.
- Basic understanding of pet safety (e.g., not approaching strange dogs, avoiding hazards).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience caring for family pets or friends' pets.
- Familiarity with local neighborhoods in Rapid City.
- Enthusiasm for outdoor activities and physical activity.
- A positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
