Job Description
We are seeking a highly accurate and detail-oriented Warehouse Tally Man to join our dynamic team in Portland, ME. This role is crucial for maintaining precise inventory records and ensuring the smooth flow of goods through our distribution center. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately count, weigh, and record incoming and outgoing merchandise, materials, and products.
- Verify shipments against purchase orders, invoices, and other documentation for discrepancies.
- Maintain detailed and organized inventory records, both physical and digital.
- Report any discrepancies, damages, or quality issues to supervisors promptly.
- Utilize handheld scanners and basic computer systems for data entry and inventory tracking.
- Assist in organizing and staging products for storage or shipment.
- Operate pallet jacks and other non-powered warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate effectively with warehouse staff, drivers, and office personnel to ensure smooth operations.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies at all times.
Required Skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills for data entry and inventory management systems.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or inventory control role (6+ months).
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or similar inventory software.
- Experience operating non-powered warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet jack).
