Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Private Hospital Porter to join our team at Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of patients, equipment, medical records, and other items throughout the hospital. This position requires a proactive individual with excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care and professionalism. You will be an integral part of ensuring the smooth operation of our hospital, contributing to a calm and efficient environment for both patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport patients safely and courteously between wards, departments, and reception areas using appropriate equipment (wheelchairs, trolleys).
- Move medical equipment, samples, documentation, and supplies efficiently throughout the hospital.
- Assist with the delivery and collection of linen, waste, and catering items.
- Ensure all areas are kept tidy and free from obstructions, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
- Respond promptly to requests for portering services.
- Maintain the cleanliness and good working order of all portering equipment.
- Handle confidential patient information with discretion and respect.
- Undertake minor maintenance tasks or report defects as required.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including infection control protocols.
